Slidebean Helped Cross Bible Turn a Founder’s Vision Into a Fundable Story

Cross Bible Pitch Deck by Slidebean

When Stephen Nelson, founder of Cross Bible, first approached Slidebean, the company was still at a very early stage. He had a clear product vision but needed help translating that vision into a coherent, investor-facing story.

Cross Bible is a web-based Bible study platform designed to help readers engage Scripture more deeply through parallel translations, notes, highlights, cross-references, study tools, and licensed Bible content. As a B2C SaaS product in the FaithTech space, it brings together a faith-based audience and a modern software business model, something that requires careful positioning when speaking to investors.

At the time, the product was pre-launch, and the team was small: a founder-led operation supported by two developers and outside legal counsel. The challenge was not just explaining the product but making a compelling case for why it could become a viable business.

The Challenge: Turning Vision Into an Investor-Ready Narrative

The core challenge was translating a strong product idea into a structured fundraising story. While the vision for Cross Bible was clear, several foundational elements needed to come together before the company could confidently approach investors.

This meant clarifying the business model and positioning Cross Bible as a SaaS platform rather than simply a Bible content product. It also required organizing the product roadmap into a narrative that investors could easily follow and evaluate, while framing the market opportunity in a way that made the FaithTech space feel credible and investable.

At the same time, a financial model needed to be built to support real fundraising conversations grounded in thoughtful assumptions about pricing and growth. And finally, the pitch deck itself had to evolve from a founder-drafted presentation into a polished, professional asset that could stand on its own.

“I had a clear product vision,” Nelson explains, “but I needed help translating that vision into a more coherent investor-facing story.”

The Solution: Structuring the Story

Nelson discovered Slidebean through its YouTube content, particularly drawn to Caya’s startup-focused approach. After engaging with a free financial model template, he moved forward with Slidebean to develop both the financial model and the pitch deck.

The process emphasized structure and clarity. Slidebean’s methodology starts with a high-level financial model map before drilling down into detailed assumptions. This approach helped transform a broad, complex vision into a more concise and communicable story.

“The team did a great job translating my raw ideas, product vision, and early assumptions and helped turn them into a story I could tell,” he says.

“The initial workshop gave me a useful framework for thinking through my business plan more rigorously, and the final materials helped me communicate the opportunity more confidently.”

The Outcome: A Stronger Foundation for Growth

Nelson is clear about the results: “The work with Slidebean did not automatically solve fundraising.” Instead, it provided something more foundational.

“It gave me a much stronger foundation for investor conversations and strategic planning,” he explains. “It also helped me think more concretely about pricing, growth assumptions, and how to explain Cross Bible as a software platform rather than merely a Bible content project.”

Since then, Cross Bible has closed multiple fundraising rounds and launched its product, now serving thousands of users across both free and paid tiers. The company continues to develop a suite of web-based Bible study tools designed for serious Bible readers and intermediate-level students, with a focus on an intuitive, easy-to-use interface.

“The foundational Slidebean process was a valuable early step in helping me professionalize the way I presented the company.”

That shift goes beyond presentation. It’s about bringing structure and clarity to how the business is understood, aligning the narrative, financials, and positioning into something that can stand up in real investor conversations.
