So, you need to give a presentation. No problem: Microsoft PowerPoint has you covered, right?

Not necessarily.

While it has dominated the market for more than two decades and still fulfills the needs of many, there are those who claim it's difficult to work with, cumbersome, limited in customization options, and just too expensive. There are also strong contenders out there that are very highly regarded. So, why not give something else a try? In fact, creating killer presentations that will wow your clients or secure that investment you need is simpler and easier than you might think. We compiled a list of some of the best presentation platforms in a recent blog post, but here's an updated list for summer 2022.

1. Slidebean

Like PowerPoint software, Slidebean lets you build creative, powerful presentations with a few clicks of a mouse. It's super easy to use — never created a presentation before? Don't worry! You'll find using Slidebean a doddle — and it comes jam-packed with features. It's no wonder, then, that's it's one of the best PowerPoint alternatives available.

Whether you're creating a pitch deck or sales pitch, you'll find loads of templates for your presentation at Slidebean. You can customize backgrounds, fonts, and graphics and make quick changes to your presentations without breaking a sweat. Plus, once you're done, you can share all your hard work with clients via email.

You also get access to in-depth reporting tools and analytics which provide you with valuable intelligence about your presentations. Find out who viewed your slides, for example, or how long people spent reading your pitch deck. Tracking all this information in one place lets you fine-tune your presentation and will improve your chances of success in the boardroom.

Costwise, you ask? The good news is that most of the features on Slidebean are completely free. There is a Premium version of the software, though, where you get access to a wider selection of tools that will add even more power your presentations.

2. Prezi Next

In 2017, Prezi launched Next — a new platform that lets you create awesome presentations for work or school. There are loads of new features to check out, including templates that will catch the attention of prospective investors. Better still, this program is really easy to use, even if you have little experience when it comes to giving presentations. Prezi Next has a simple but modern interface and, if you get stuck, you can always ask a question on Prezi's community pages.

Why not track your presentation engagement with Prezi's impressive suite of reporting tools? These metrics tell you how viewers interact with your content before and after your presentation. You can also discover who shared your presentation and find out how many views it received.

You can tailor your presentations to different audiences, too: customize your pitch decks based on the requirements of your clients or investors. Plus, you can share your presentations via email or display them on a mobile device.

3. Google Slides

Google Slides is part of Google's suite of office editing tools and is one of the most popular presentation platforms on the market at the moment. Why? It's easy to use, completely free and integrates with Google Drive, making it a must-have for both students and businesspeople. There is a downside: Google Slides doesn't have the features of some of the other programs on our list. Still, it's a great choice if you're looking for basic presentation software. Plus, it lets you edit your presentations even if you don't have an internet connection.

Google Slides saves your data to the cloud so you can access your presentations anywhere in the world. What's more, you can edit your content on a mobile device. Sharing your documents is easy, too. Just send your clients or colleagues a link to your presentation, and they can make quick changes.

Another great feature of Google Slides is that you can access the platform from your internet browser. This means you don't need to download any software onto your computer. Also, you can edit PowerPoint files on the program and add images and photos to your content.

4. Canva

Canva has become another popular PowerPoint software alternative in recent years, and it's not hard to see why. This platform boasts a wide range of features that will transform your presentations, including professional templates. You can also add visuals to your presentations — there are more than 1 million stock images to choose from — and apply filters to your content. Canva is easy to use, and you can create a compelling presentation that tells the world about your school project, business proposal or new venture.

Once you have finished editing your presentation, you can share it with other people or add it to your social media pages. The platform is free to use (although you will need to pay to use some images, illustrations, and graphics).

There are a number of different ways you can access Canva. You can create and edit presentations from your internet browser or download the free app and get creative on your smartphone or tablet. The Canva app is available from the App Store and Google Play.

5. Zoho Office Suite

Zoho Office Suite lets you create beautiful presentations from the comfort of your home or office and share them with anyone you like. You can import multiple file types and get to work straight away or choose from one of the many template designs and start a new presentation from scratch. Other features include animations and transitions, which will make your presentations even more attractive.

Using Zoho Office Suite is easy, too. You can embed images from Flickr and videos from YouTube into your presentation, as well as live tweets. Then, you can publish your content on your website, blog or social media pages.

You won't need to download software onto your computer, either. Zoho Office Suite is available for Android and iOS devices, so you can create and view content when you are out and about. Finally, you can cast your mobile device and display your presentation on a compatible television screen.

6. Evernote

Evernote is one of the most popular note-taking apps, but you can use its presentation mode to create pitch decks and share them with your business colleagues. Although Evernote lacks some of the features of the other presentation platforms on our list, you can still customize your content. The presentation layout editor will let you change the size of your font, for example, and there are two display options: day mode and night mode.

Once you've made edits, you can share your content as a PDF file or display your presentation on a secondary monitor. This lets multiple people read your presentation, even if they are in another room or different office. You'll find Evernote easy to use, too. The company has a help center on its website, with loads of useful tips that will transform the way you edit and share your content.

Evernote's presentation mode is currently only available to premium and business users, but there's a 30-day free trial for new users. You can download Evernote onto your laptop or get the free iOS or Android app.
